Description:
This Appleton company is seeking a temp to hire position for an Electrical Engineer. This position is responsible for the electrical engineering requiring close, continuous interaction with mechanical engineering. This is an exempt position that may require in excess of 40 hours per week in order to effectively carry out the listed job duties. There is occasional travel required. Please see below for the job duties: Responsible for engineering standards that are within the established norms of the packaging/converting machinery industry and in compliance with the current national and international standards for the care and construction of packaging/converting related machinery and equipment.
Responsible for the electrical design of machinery and electrical systems used on machines, including machine program software. .
Implements product improvement programs.
Keeps abreast of current technical progress in all related fields of activity.
Sees that adequate records of formulae, drawings, process methods, bills of materials and product construction standards are maintained.
Ensures that adequate records to support patent actions are maintained and. in particular, maintains a daily log for this purpose.
Directs preparation of progress reports and ensures that all appropriate personnel are kept abreast of electrical engineering and development activities.
Prepares and presents papers and reports of a technical nature as required.
Provides engineering support on company products to other departments as required.
Seeks, evaluates and conducts negotiations with vendors with respect to new electrical engineering systems or proposed machinery components sufficient to carry out desired designs.
Supports Technical Service, including travel to customers' facilities as required.
Understands and utilizes the business system effectively.
Is proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
Visibly supports "lean" and other process improvement activities. Participates in rapid improvement events. Applies continuous improvement practices to one's job. Supports transition activities, as required. Maintains an open mind throughout the change process. Works with others to continuously fuel improvement throughout the Company.
Contributes to the company’s core competencies of Market Intelligence and Product Development by gathering and reporting all relevant information. This includes: competitive information; and new technology trends.
Responsible for own safety. Practices only safe work habits and ensures all safety rules are followed. Responsible to keep area clean and organized to ensure safe working conditions.
Performs other appropriate duties as required or requested by supervisor.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor's of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, plus a minimum of 6 years experience in the engineer-to-order machinery industry, (i.e. converting, printing, plastics, packaging machinery manufacturing). The candidate must also have background in machinery design including power, controls and programming. It would be preferred for the candidate to have experience with Allen Bradley programming, indramat would be a plus, AutoCad 2010, Microsoft Office, experience with converting equipment, flexible packaging and automation systems would also be a plus.
Hours:
1st shift. Monday - Friday. Flexible start time.
Pay:
$63,800 - $76,700
