Description:
This is a direct hire position for a friendly company in Appleton for a part time driver. The candidate is required to have a CDL, class A preferable, but the company will accept a class B CDL with air brakes. Driver will be responsible to safely deliver and pick up customers vehicles from their Wisconsin and Upper Michigan locations. These vehicles will be straight trucks with utility aerials, digger derricks, and or cranes mounted on them. The chassis are sized from one-ton trucks like a Ford F350, up to a Freightliner, IH, Ford, etc single axle and tandem 4x6 and 6x6 chassis. Those drivers with a class A CDL may also occasionally be asked to pick up or deliver utility bodies, aerials or parts with their goose neck flat bed trailer and ¾ ton pickup truck. The company utilizes chase cars towed behind customer's vehicles for the drivers return trips.  Drivers are responsible for their log books and for signed packing slips from customers.
Qualifications:
Good driving record is required
CDL, class A preferable, but the company will accept a class B CDL with air brakes.
Drivers must pass a DOT physical examination and will be added to the DOT driver pool for random testing.
A valid medical card is required for out of state deliveries.Â
Drivers must be physically able to hook up and unhook the chase vehicle hitch to the towing vehicle.Â
Hours:
The hours vary and the company is flexible and willing to work with another part time position. Drivers are called when needed and asked if they are available for driving and if they are not, the next driver on the list is contacted. The company tries to provide a day's advance notice for driving but this is not always possible due to customer needs. The start time can vary from 6:00am (possibly earlier for longer runs) to 5:00pm (maybe later if there are any mechanical problems)
Pay:
$.36 per driven mile, both ways.. Expenses are reimbursed upon return. Payroll is bi-weekly. When more than one driver is sent to deliver/pickup vehicles to/from a customer's location and all drivers are returning in the chase car, the company pays ½ the mileage rate for all drivers on the return trip.
The salary depends on workload and availability of candidate. On average it would be between $150-$200/weekBenefits:
