Offering Special Company Perks – What Are You Looking For?

As the economy picks up, more companies have been trying to come up with unique perks to attract and retain employees.  Smaller companies do not have a large budget, so they have to try to be creative, while larger firms often have more resources.  Businesses are realizing that employees want work/life balance and if they are happy employees, they are often more productive. Here are some ideas that I have been reading about lately:

  • Free drying cleaning
  • Birthday day off paid
  • Free alterations on business attire
  • Zoo passes
  • No official work hours
  • Movie passes
  • Gym memberships
  • Onsite yoga, meditation, aerobics, or other fitness classes
  • Chair massages
  • Concierge for travel, party planning, etc
  • 24/7 cafeteria with staff and discounts
  • Weight loss programs and support
  • 15 minute nap rooms
  • Part time, onsite medical staff
  • Snacks, bottled water and snacks
  • Gift cards for anniversaries, doing well on projects, birthdays, etc.
  • Paid volunteer hours
  • Tickets to events, including transportation
  • Free car washes and oil changes
  • Company barbeques and picnics
  • Friday Pizza
  • Onsite daycare or child care assistance

Many even ask the employees each year to rate the top 5-10 perks that would mean the most to them. Everyone is different so companies are trying to adapt to changing lifestyles and work habits.  What perks would you love to see in your organization?
